Hong Kong was a great port to visit; everything was inexpensive. One vivid memory I had was of washing down down the decks with the hoses as we prepared to leave port... The Chinese workers had been on board to clean number 7 hatch; which always carried a cargo of latex... They used to eat their food out of huge palm leaves and connie-onnie tins (condensed milk cans) which had a straw handle... The decks would be completely covered in these used containers... and there were a lot of cleaners... |
